A Brief History of Manhattan's

Owner and Toledo native, Zach Lahey and his talented staff have shaped their own style of dining in this growing downtown Toledo locale and have what they call a “New York-inspired” menu.

Zach is the second oldest of seven children. He graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School and went on to Ohio Northern University where he pursued musical theater. He is an accomplished singer, dancer and actor. He has appeared in an array of productions and held leads in West Side Story, JC Superstar, Hello Dolly, and Guys and Dolls, to mention a few. He has also been the guest artist for ONU’s Godspell (Summer 2002) and Tommy (Spring 2003).

In 2000, Zach moved to New York to pursue his acting career. As most folks who have also followed this path know, that dream turned into one waiter’s position after another! While on this track Zach worked tirelessly to make ends meet. However, in the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy, he ran into tough times, loaded his possessions onto a trailer, and hobbled to Toledo with every intention of earning enough cash to return to New York within six months.

Call it Divine Providence or call it fate, things just have a way of taking their own course. While working at Manos' Greek Restaurant, Zach was introduced to the idea of opening his own restaurant at the former Sam & Andy’s site. Zach’s dad, Marty, initially advised him that this was a very bad idea and that he should stay focused on his original game plan of returning to NY. (Is there a hidden message there?) But soon, even he began to see the inherent charm and potential of this venue.

Zach, Marty, and many of their friends began working slowly in the spring of 2002. Construction really got started in July and by September paint was flowing on the outside while dust was flying on the inside. After a brutal autumn Manhattan’s opened its doors for business in December, 2002.

Manhattan’s Restaurant offers local residents the opportunity to enjoy the New York experience every day. The intent is to mesh rich New York flavors with the distinctive ambiance of the Adams Street renaissance.

Below are some samples of our early press releases. Mike Petrillo was the original Chef, helped build the restaurant, and designed the first menus. He unfortunately didn't take to Toledo, and has since moved home to the Big Apple.

"You pay peanuts, you get monkeys" and if you're willing to spend a little more during your Manhattan NY rental charter bus holiday, you get...Uncle Jack's. Uncle Jack's steaks are literally legendary in Manhattan NY and if you've never eaten there, start saving your money, rent a Manhattan NY charter bus and head on over to splurge on good food and drinks from Uncle Jack's. Talking (or rather, writing) about the steaks itself is making my mouth water. Absolutely scrumptious. Every bite is an absolute delight, I'm telling you! But that's not the end of it because there's more to eating at Uncle Jack's Steakhouse than just the steaks. Here's another reason to take the Manhattan rental charter bus to Uncle Jack's Steakhouse - the atmosphere is lovely in this charming Manhattan rental charter bus dining destination. It's in a brick building that is rather unpretentious with soft brown furniture which gives it the homely feeling of eating at home. The service staff is well-trained as they provide International class service. The moment your wine is done, the staff will be right there again to refill it. What a way to eat in Manhattan NY, right? If you're a light eater, like me, you might want to consider sharing your dish with someone else because the portion is extremely huge! In fact, I think New York time once said that 'Uncle Jack's Steakhouse leaves no item overlooked'....says a lot there about this Manhattan NY rental charter bus diner already! The Kobe Beef was yummilicious with generous sauces and dips - if you rent a Manhattan New York charter bus there, be sure to try that. Another steak to try at this Manhattan New York charter bus dining destination is the PorterHouse steak. They have a wide range or beer, beverage and wine for rental charter bus holiday-goers like you too. You know, this is the perfect place to bring a date because of the atmosphere...dim lighting, soft music, beautiful people serving you and fabulous food. So, if I were you, I'd not hesitate at all about taking the Manhattan NY rental charter bus to Uncle Jack's for another round of face gorging! Like I said, the only concern it....be prepared to pay for it! *** Uncle Jack's Steakhouse (Goldfork Restaurant in Manhattan) 440 Ninth Avenue New York City, NY 10001-1620 Tel: +1 212 244 0005 Opening Hours: Lunch: noon-4p M-F, Dinner: 4p-11p Su-W, 4p-midnight Th-Sa

From quaint cottages to luxury beach-front homes, Manhattan Beach rentals are just waiting to turn California dreaming into California reality. Located just minutes from Los Angeles, Manhattan Beach rentals are ideal for those who want to enjoy a slower pace without missing out on all the action of the big city. Finding the right Manhattan rental to suit your personal needs will require some advanced planning. But don't fret, with the number of choices, there's no reason not to locate the ideal Manhattan Beach rental. Before seeking out a Manhattan Beach rental, it's a good idea to narrow down what exactly is desired in a vacation place. Since the options here include freestanding homes, hotel rooms, cottages and beyond, personal choices can almost always be met. Here are some questions to ask yourself to help narrow down your search for a perfect rental: * Is location important to you? Are you insistent upon being right on Manhattan Beach or will a few blocks away do? How about being near a park? The pier? * Price, does it matter? If it does, set a limit to help narrow your search for a perfect rental. Make no mistake, the prices for Manhattan Beach rentals can be high, but there are some very reasonable accommodations to be had, as well. * Does size create a concern? Are you willing to keep four family members in a two-bedroom rental or do you want a sprawling home with four bedrooms and multiple bathrooms? * Kitchen and/or kitchen privileges. Do you want these or do you intend to each out three meals a day during your stay? * Special features. Are things such as a Jacuzzi, DVD player, big-screen TV and so on important to you? If they are, list them out. A lot of Manhattan Beach rentals offer all the conveniences of home, but it's important for you to list out what you want in a rental to make the search more targeted. * Freestanding or not? Is your heart set on staying in a Manhattan Beach rental home or are you okay with a duplex, hotel or even a timeshare where others might be staying next door or above or below your rental space? Once you've figured out what out of a Manhattan Beach rental, it's time to start looking. Some of the best places to turn for great Manhattan Beach rentals include the Internet, area Realtors and even your own personal real estate agent in your area. Check out rentals before signing a contract and do be certain to look at pictures and ask pointed questions. Remember, Manhattan Beach rentals might not be the cheapest accommodations going, but they do offer some serious perks. Considering the beaches, the proximity to big city action and the fact these rentals are generally full homes, they provide guests with ideal home bases for great getaway vacations. Perfect for families or even couples on romantic vacations, Manhattan Beach rentals give a different view of the Los Angeles area. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Tom_Sample

Steakhouse Manhattan Serves Food For The True Gourmet

A gourmet’s dream would be to find himself in a quality restaurant where everyday is like an ongoing celebration of exceptional food and wine. And if that person happens to be fond of steak then there is nothing that can compare to a steakhouse Manhattan which is home to the finest quality of aged prime steak. A steakhouse which is also known as a chophouse serves not only the premium quality beef steak cooked to suit your taste but also many other kind of meat according to the preference of the patron. A steakhouse Manhattan is the place where you can indulge in steaks, seafood, ribs, chops, salads and more which have been prepared only with the finest quality ingredients and served in an ambience that compliments the food. Although a steakhouse Manhattan will be usually frequented by a confirmed steak lover but a person can also enjoy other kinds of meat like a hamburger, lamb, pork, game, chicken, barbeque, seafood and even pasta. Steakhouse Manhattan serves steaks that are grilled, broiled or maybe even pan-fried. Although steaks are usually prepared of beef but they may also be made out of red meat or fish depending on the preference of the patron. Also since steaks are prepared on dry heat so the tenderest parts of the animal is used to prepare a steak in any steakhouse Manhattan. This in turn causes the steaks to be sold at a premium and hence a person who frequents a steakhouse Manhattan is also perceived to be holding a good status in society. Also a steakhouse will usually serve the main course with side dishes according to the choice of the diner. A side dish could be rice, pasta, beans or potatoes. Usually a small serving of cooked vegetable also accompanies the main dish and the side dish. The vegetables that are usually preferred are spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and onion rings. At times only a green salad may be served with the steak. A Steakhouse Manhattan also serves popular accompaniments such as prawns or lobster tails with the delicious steaks. The patron also has a choice of alcohol based drinks to add to his eating experience with family, friends or colleagues at any steakhouse Manhattan. The soothing and pleasant ambience only enhances the experience of enjoying your favorite steak at such a steakhouse. The staff is both friendly and helpful and is always willing to guide you with your choice of dishes in case you are experimenting with any particular dish at a steakhouse in Manhattan. Several other kind of food is also called steak without actually being one such as a Swiss steak or a Hamburger (Salisbury) steak. However a true steak lover has many varieties and options of actual steaks to chose from which are as varied as high priced Sirloin steak to a Skirt steak. So if you are a true gourmet and prefer to have your steak rare, medium or well done a steakhouse Manhattan should be your destination of choice. How To Make A Manhattan Cocktail

Are you looking for an old school cocktail? Is 1870 old enough for you? The Manhattan cocktail is tasty and it is also an important part of cocktail history. Here is it's interesting origin and some of the best recipes for making a Manhattan cocktail. In the 1870's, Winston Churchill's mother was hosting a party for then presidential candidate Samuel J. Tilden. This cocktail was created especially for the banquet and it was a big hit. Mr. Tilden lost the election wound up losing the election but his party drink became famous. People started asking for the drink by the name of the club where the party was held, The Manhattan Cocktail. Personally, I would have called it the Mother Churchill's Cocktail but I wasn't born for another 100 years, so I didn't have a say in the matter. Manhattan Recipe 2.5 ounces Canadian Whiskey (Kentucky Bourbon or Rye can also be used) 1 ounce Sweet Vermouth Dash Angostura Bitters 1 Maraschino Cherry Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice Strain into a martini glass or an old fashioned glass on the rocks Add Cherry Variations: Dry Manhattan - Make it with dry vermouth instead of sweet vermouth and serve it with a twist. Perfect Manhattan - Make it with equal parts dry and sweet vermouth. What other drink can boast a lineage to Winston Churchill's family and taste great at the same time? There's a popular saying, what's old is new again and it's true of the Manhattan. Why not make a Manhattan cocktail today? Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Anthony_Tripodi

An Insider's Word to the Restaurant Biz

I figured I'd put up a some thoughts on what it is like to work in the restaurant biz in Manhattan since I did it for eight months. In one word: crazy. But seriously, restaurant work is really only for those people who are completely psycho. I was pulling 70-80 hours a week and most people would call that pretty weak for the restaurant biz. A lot of chefs start their careers working at 100 plus hours per week. Still, there is a culture about the restauranteurs that I met. It's not work for them and to be honest, it never really felt like work for me either. The best part of the restaurant biz is the food and beverage culture that you get immersed in. For anyone who wants to learn a lot about food and not pay to learn, but instead be paid to learn, the restaurant industry is great. Of course, the price is the hours worked. If you want to learn the restaurant biz in Manhattan, you have to start at the bottom. Ultimately, every restaurant is going to desire managers who can honestly say they've worked every position and know how things should be done because they've already done every job. In Manhattan especially, there's the added obstacle that you really can't start to be a waiter unless you learn to bus tables and be a runner. A runner is just someone who runs food from the kitchen to the tables, but doesn't really interact with the customers. If you're really lucky, you can find a restaurant that is opening, track down the owner and tell him you'll work for free just so you can learn the biz. You'd be surprised how open a restauranteur is to this because there are so many things to do in a restaurant opening. Most restauranteurs have a pre opening list that has hundreds of things that have to be done before an opening. Anyway, that's it for now. And as always, click here to check out my "learn how to cook" website. Let me know what you think of it so that I can make it better. Until next time folks.
